About My Store
This is the place to purchase the works of Steve Ray.
Steve and his family are converts to the Catholic Church. His Baptist parents were so angry at Steve for becoming Catholic that he thought they would burst a blood vessel. So in the middle of the night he began typing “Dear Mom and Dad, you are the best parents in the world and I owe you an explanation.”
The letter got longer and longer and became his first book Crossing the Tiber. Steve never dreamed of this becoming a book. It was simply started as a love letter to his parents.
Ignatius Press published Steve’s “love letter” and it is now a best seller in the Catholic market. That how the writing and speaking began. It is all done out of his deep faith in Christ and his enthusiasm and excitement for the Church.
The store is handled by his home-schooling daughter Cindy who runs the operations as a home business so all procedes go to support Steve and his family.
You can read about the Ray family story and history here. For their Conversion Story specifically read here.
In the Fall of the year 2000, about 2 AM in the morning Steve suddenly sat straight up in bed. Instantly he shook his wife Janet awake in the dark and shouted, “We have to do a 10-part video series on the the story of salvation from a Catholic perspective!!”
It had just come instantly in the night — the whole idea laid out as if it had been put together by and editorial committee. Janet said, “You scared me half to death to tell me that? You are crazy. We can’t even take good pictures; how does God expect us to make movies? Go back to sleep.”
But Steve got up that night and typed out the whole outline for the series and came up with the name The Footprints of God: the Story of Salvation from Abraham to Augustine.
A few months later they were flying over the Middle East and Europe in helicopters and a filming crew. Seven of the projected ten documentaries are now complete with plans to finish the remaining three in the next few years.
Then people asked Steve to lead them in the biblical lands. Pilgrimages began. Then speaking engagement around the world, more books. Then came requests to write Bible studies and more books.
So, that is how this all got started.
It is a family affair. Janet and Steve work together 24-7 to serve the Church and the people of God through talks, books, websites, pilgrimages, radio and TV shows and more.
Cindy Brown, Steve’s daughter and philosopher (Franciscan University of Steubenville and Catholic University of America) runs the store, stocks the items, duplicates the audio CDs and does all the shipping with the help of Steve and Janet’s grandkids.
Jesse Ray, Steve’s son, is the Business Manager and handles the websites, correspondence, travel arrangements and much more.
By purchasing here you help support our family and our ministry. God bless you and thanks for your trust and support.
